The stage is set for the final of the Indian Premier League, with Kolkata Knight Riders facing off with the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday.
Friday’s second qualifier at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium showed a different side to what the rest of the season has — a bowler’s game.
The Sunrisers, who have broken numerous records with the bat this season, only scored 175 against the Rajasthan Royals. A total they defended effortlessly.
Sunday’s rematch of qualifier one will also take place in Chennai. However, it’s set to be played on a red-soil pitch, with batters sure to be licking their lips at the prospect of making an impact in the ultimate game.
A clear forecast is yet again expected, despite showers halting Kolkata’s training session on Saturday.
That leaves possibilities of dew in the second innings, but without certainty. Perhaps, like Friday, it will be another field day for the spinners, instead?
The unpredictability of it all is what makes the IPL the most-watched, most-loved T20 league on the planet. And it still has one more main course to serve up.
The action begins on Sunday from 4pm live on SuperSport.
