Manchester City and Argentina legend Sergio Aguero has continued to show support for his national team by joining them in their Fifa World Cup final preparations a year after his retirement.
Just months after joining Barcelona from City last year, Aguero was forced into retirement due to a heart problem. He was later diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmia. That did not stop him from supporting his country on the global stage, though.
The 34-year-old made his presence felt throughout the tournament in Qatar, cheering Lionel Messi and Argentina on as they look to lift the ultimate prize.
The former striker, who scored 41 international career goals, rolled back the clock this week as he scored an absolute cracker while training with the squad in full kit at their Qatar University base.
Aguero’s former teammate Nicholas Otamendi shared videos of the goal on his Instagram page, much to the delight of football fans everywhere.
Aguero was all praise for Argentina following their 3-0 semi-final win over Croatia on Tuesday.
“They played a very calm game, they waited for the moment. Because Argentina, until the first goal, didn’t press as much, and they had possession but they didn’t do much either. I think that after the 2-0 Croatia were already tired. They fell apart,” he told GOAL.
