After Buhle visited her boyfriend Mdu in Durban, the lovers said their goodbyes and parted ways at a local taxi station. Little did they know it would be the last time they saw each other alive.

Buhle Xaba’s body was found a few days later in the bushes near Newcastle, KZN. She had been shot.

After his girlfriend was murdered, Mdu Ngcobo now fears for his own life. Buhle’s alleged killer called her family and warned them that he is also coming for Mdu.

Mdu, a Durban-based businessman, told Scrolla.Africa that Buhle visited him and left on 29 December to spend New Year’s with her family.

“When she visited me she already had a problem with her ex-boyfriend. He was abusing her,” he said.

“She even changed her phone number but the ex managed to get hold of her through a friend.”

He said that he has been informed that the ex-boyfriend, who is apparently a famous taxi owner, is looking for him and is using his pictures from Facebook to find him.

“I’m scared. The ex-boyfriend told Buhle’s family he will be coming for me. I was staying at a hotel for her funeral when I was told that I must not go because the ex was there with his friends and they have guns,” he said.

Mdu says his aim is to assist the Xaba family to get justice for Buhle.

“I don’t understand why the suspect has not been arrested,” he said.

Police Provincial Spokesperson Colonel Nqobile Gwala said a murder case was opened for investigation and that no arrests have been made.
