The world acclaimed Soweto String Quartet have bounced back after an eight year musical break. They will be releasing a single titled Through & Through from their latest four track EP on November 24th.

The quartet, which was originally made up of three Khemese brothers, Thami, Sandile, Reuben and Makhosini Mnguni, took the break following the death of Reuben.

Their last album titled “Soweto String Quartet Speel Afrikanse Treffers Vol 2” was released in 2013. The quartet is known for hit songs like Imbube, Kwela and Pata Pata.

The single Through & Through, is a foot tapping song of happiness – a perfect wedding song in the season of joy and laughter.

Thami Khemese explained that the single has more of a kwela touch.

“Our sound has not changed much, but we had to make sure it is relevant and moves with the times, and is competitive in the market,” he said.

Through & Through features Sandile Khemese (1st violin),  Thamsanqa Khemese (2nd violin), Makhosini Mnguni (viola), Themba Mashobane (celio) and Thokozane Nsibande (percussions).

Through & Through will be available on all the digital music platforms.
