A 29-year-old woman from New Brunswick has been arrested and charged after pretending for several days to be a pupil at a school in New Jersey.
Hyejeong Shin pretended to be a student and spent four days roaming the school’s corridors and attending classes. Unfortunately for Shin, it didn’t take long for teachers and other staff members to notice the grown adult among the teenagers.
According to a Sky News Report, Shin was charged for providing a false government document with the intent to verify one’s identity or age.
The New Brunswick Public School district superintendent said the woman presented a false birth certificate to enrol as a pupil and was able to be enrolled at the high school.
During her days at the school, Shin spent a lot of time with guidance counsellors who were trying to find out more information about her. Staff members uncovered the woman’s ploy and immediately notified the appropriate authorities.
The woman was arrested and has now been charged, according to Sky News.
Officials have warned students to refrain from any further contact with the woman, in person or remotely. “This is an unfortunate event. Communication has been provided to the parents of individuals that the young lady may have come into contact with and communication has been provided to all high school parents,” a school official said.
