One of the best selling artists of all time, Adele, has already clocked over 100 million views with the music video of her new single “Easy On Me” in less than two weeks.
The staggering success of this new release alone is just a taste of the approaching tidal wave that is her new album, 30.
In the music video, mostly shot in black and white, director Xavier Dolan takes his time before letting the song begin at 1:40. Adele has a brief phone call with a friend before poor reception cuts it short. She then gets into a car, inserts a cassette tape into its stereo and the melody begins to play.
She drives away with all her luggage, leaving an old house in the woods which is littered with broken wooden chairs. Many fans have speculated that this imagery is a symbol for the end of her marriage, an issue which the singer said she will be addressing in the album.
Adele’s album names usually reflect the age she was when she wrote them and she wrote 30 three years ago, her age at the time.
The album will be released on 19 November 2021.
Meanwhile, the 33-year-old has announced that she will promote her album with an Adele One Night Only concert to be aired on 14 November on CBS with a special interview segment with talk show guru Oprah Winfrey.
