Well-known actor Sello Maake kaNcube and his wife Pearl Mbewe are headed to court after both laid criminal charges against each other.

Pearl has accused her husband of assault and of spreading a chronic illness to her. But the TV star says it’s all lies.

“I firmly deny the allegations. It appears this is a coordinated effort to create unfounded claims against me,” said Maake kaNcube.

“I will not stoop to this level and engage in mud-slinging. I am consulting with my legal team on these matters.”

A source told Zimoja that the couple fought at the Grahamstown Arts Festival in June. Maake kaNcube allegedly left his wife there, and she had to return to Soweto with friends.

The marriage has been rocky for months.

Earlier this year, Maake kaNcube celebrated receiving an honorary doctorate from Trinity International Bible University.

However, Education Minister Blade Nzimande later revealed that the university wasn’t registered to grant degrees.
