- AbaThembu royal family member Ndiphiwe Makawula says Floyd Shivambu ignored warnings not to work with former Queen Nolubabalo Mcinga.
- Mcinga was fired from the Afrika Mayibuye Movement after being accused of misconduct, including meeting former president Jacob Zuma without permission.
The AbaThembu royal family says it warned Afrika Mayibuye Movement leader Floyd Shivambu not to work with former Queen Nolubabalo Mcinga before she was dismissed from the party.
King Dalindyebo’s brother, Ndiphiwe Makawula, told Scrolla.Africa that the family was not surprised when Mcinga was fired.
“In fact, we warned Shivhambu about Mcinga. That woman is a very difficult and chaotic person. That’s why she never lasted too long in the royal family. Unfortunately, Shivhambu never listened when we warned him. Look what happened now. He had no choice but to fire Mcinga,” said Makawula.
Makawula also criticised Mcinga on social media, calling her “chaotic.”
Mcinga, in a recent interview with Newzroom Afrika, accused Shivhambu of lacking leadership skills and discriminating against women.
“I just want to say sorry to the people of South Africa because they warned me,” she said. “Comrade Lungile Mdlingosi from the Eastern Cape begged me not to leave the MK Party. He said, ‘Floyd needs to grow.’”
Mcinga co-founded the Afrika Mayibuye Movement with Shivhambu earlier this year but was removed after being accused of serious organisational misconduct. The party said she held an unauthorised meeting with uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party leader Jacob Zuma.
Before entering politics, Mcinga was married to King Dalindyebo. After leaving the royal family, she joined the EFF, later the MK Party, and then the Afrika Mayibuye Movement.
