A game changer for grassroots netballers

Taking netball to the people at grassroots level has always been the ultimate objective for Netball South Africa and with the Twizza Netball Club Championship that goal may be within reach.

The newly announced partnership between Netball South Africa and Twizza will see development of netball at grassroots level for both men and women.

The partnership will see 52 districts hosting their own leagues with about 20 clubs per district. The top two teams from every district will compete at an inter-provincial netball competition in July and August.

The winner of each provincial tournament will then compete in a national competition to determine the best club in South Africa, with the finals taking place in September.

Speaking at the launch at the Tsogo Sun in Rosebank, Netball SA President Cecilia Molokwane said the partnership will give players in rural areas access to sport and bridge the gap at district level.

“We are grateful to Twizza for throwing their weight behind this tournament and for helping us take Netball to the people,” said Molokwane.

“It’s a pleasure to work with partners who understand our vision and partners who see value in investing in the growth of sport.”

Molokwane challenges the districts and players to get involved.
