USA – US former talkshow host Wendy Williams, 60, has made her first public appearance since being declared “permanently incapacitated” due to early-onset dementia in Lauderdale, Fla. Her legal guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, claimed in a lawsuit against A+E Networks, accusing them of exploiting Williams in their Lifetime documentary Where Is Wendy Williams?. The former talk show host was sighted dressed in an army green jacket and accessorized with bold jewelry in the company of her nephew, Travis Finnie, while picking up food.Earlier on, Morrissey revealed Williams’ diagnosis with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia, conditions that impair memory and behavior. Despite Morrissey’s attempts, the documentary, which explores Williams’ battles with addiction and financial struggles, was released.
Malaysia – Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has named former Thai premier Thaksin Shinawatra as his personal adviser during Malaysia’s chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2024. Thaksin, 75, will serve in an informal capacity alongside advisors from other ASEAN member states, leveraging his political experience.The announcement came during a visit by Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Thaksin’s daughter. Thaksin, a controversial figure in Thai politics, recently returned to Thailand after years of self-exile and imprisonment, but remains influential despite claims of retirement from politics.
Indian Ocean – Up to 1,000 people may have been killed when Cyclone Chido, the strongest storm to hit Mayotte in nearly a century, caused widespread destruction on the island and neighbouring regions Winds exceeding 124 mph (200 km/h) tore apart buildings and infrastructure. Emergency workers are struggling to assess the full damage and locate survivors. The cyclone also affected nearby Comoros, Madagascar, and Mozambique. Mayotte, a French overseas department, suffered significant damage, including to the main airport and hospital. French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his condolences to the victims.
USA – Kjerstin Cook, a devoted Idaho wife and mother, penned a heartfelt letter to a local Secret Santa before passing away from ALS in February 2024. In the letter, submitted by a friend, she expressed gratitude for her husband Dustin’s unwavering care during her illness and requested a special gift for him.
