The community of Lucingweni in Tsolo, Eastern Cape, is in shock after an elderly couple was found murdered in their home. The victims, aged 70 and 75, were discovered in their bedroom with gunshot wounds to their heads on Thursday.
Eastern Cape Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa said the couple had last been seen on Monday.
“On information received, the victims were last seen on Monday, 25 November 2024, and the family members decided to check on them at their homestead. On arrival, they found them in their bedroom with gunshot wounds and alerted the police,” she said.
The Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit is investigating two counts of murder. Mawisa confirmed that Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene has assigned experienced detectives to handle the case.
Police are urging anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact their nearest police station or report anonymously to SAPS CrimeStop at 08600 10111.
