Pep Guardiola believes that four more victories will be enough to clinch the title following a 2-0 victory over high-flying Leicester City on Saturday night at King Power Stadium.
“We need four more victories to win again,” said Pep Guardiola told Manchester City twitter after the match.
“All these players prove again how consistent they are. The run of games we have won last month – very pleased.” Said Pep Guardiola.
Two second half goals from Benjamin Mendy and Gabriel Jesus were enough to hand the Citizens the victory and open a 17 points gap at the top of the table.
The Spaniard side consolidated their position on top of the table to move within eleven points of a third Premier League title in four years.
It was a sweet revenge for the Citizens who suffered a 5-2 defeat to the Foxes in the reverse fixture in September last year at Etihad Stadium.
Pep Guardiola lauds the patience shown by the players against a very stubborn Leicester City compared to the last time they played the Foxes.
“We were more patient than the game at Etihad, you have to be patient versus Leicester because they defend so well.”
“The players run hard and fight every single game and that’s something I am incredibly proud of.” Guardiola said.
Next match City turns focus to UEFA Champions League, Pep Guardiola’s men face Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night at Etihad Stadium, Kick-Off 21:00.
