Four of the players who featured in the collapse of Bafana Bafana as they crashed out of the Afcon qualifiers last week, will be in action again on Friday.
Themba Zwane, Lebogang Maboe, Thapelo Morena and Mosa Lebusa will be in the company of Sundowns who take on Al Hilal at Al Hilal Stadium in Omdurman in the penultimate CAF Champions League group stage fixture set for 3pm kickoff.
Just five days ago, these players were part of the Bafana Bafana team that flopped dismally against Sudan at the same venue.
There’s no doubt Zwane and his mates will be keen to avert another upset by putting on an impressive display.
Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has been quoted in the media saying they are aware of the poor performance but were determined to put in a good shift.
With four wins from their four Group B games played so far, Sundowns have already qualified for the CAF Champions League knockout stage.
They are currently the only side to have successfully won a match in Group B, with the other three teams having drawn each of their games that didn’t involve the Brazilians.
Meanwhile Kaizer Chiefs believe they still have a chance to reach the Champions League knockout stage by edging Group C leaders Wydad Casablanca on Saturday at FNB Stadium at 6pm.
In the reserve fixture Chiefs were clobbered 4-0 in Morocco but Chiefs rising star Nkosingiphile Ngcobo believes they can turn the tables on Morocco if they prepare well.
“I’m confident we can beat them,” he said.
“We must just make sure that we win the two games that are left.”
Amakhosi are third in Group C, tied on five points with Guinean side Horoya, who boast a better goal difference.
