A dramatic legal dispute happened outside the home of city manager Floyd Brink in Helderkruin, Roodepoort.
The sheriff of the court was there to enforce a warrant of arrest following the City of Johannesburg’s failure to comply with a court order that prevented it from disconnecting utilities.
The enforcement was met with resistance, as no fewer than 13 unmarked vehicles reportedly blocked the sheriff from carrying out the warrant.
According to News24, the vehicles’ occupants claimed the warrant could not be enforced due to an error in the legal documents, where the name “Brink” was mistakenly written as “Blink.”
During the standoff, Brink’s legal team arrived on the scene to negotiate with the sheriff.
