Liverpool returned to winning ways with a 3-1 away day victory over Fulham on a goal filled Sunday in the Premier League.
Jurgen Klopp cited scheduling as the reason for a team sheet that saw six changes from his last league game; with all of Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Alexis Mac Allister starting from the bench at Craven Cottage.
The altered eleven did not stop the Reds though, with the trio of Trent Alexander Arnold, Ryan Gravenberch and Diogo Jota all finding the back of the net after suffering their own injury setbacks since the turn of the new year.
Alexander Arnold opened the scoring with a sublime free-kick on the half hour mark. The full back’s strike means he now has six direct free kick goals in the league, with only Jamie Redknapp and Steven Gerrard ever registering more for the Merseysiders.
Timothy Castagne’s consolation for the hosts was his first goal for the club; but despite levelling matters on the brink of half time, the Reds would come out all guns blazing in the second period.
Former Fulham man Harvey Elliott assisted Gravenberch’s goal, marking the first occasion in a decade that Liverpool had a league goal both scored and assisted by players aged 21 or younger.
The icing on the cake came from a combination of in-form Cody Gakpo and returning Diogo Jota, with the latter bagging the 100th goal of his club career.
In the earlier games, Everton beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 while Aston Villa defeated Bournemouth 3-1 and Crystal Palace thumped West Ham 5-2.
The action continues on Tuesday with a London derby between Arsenal and Chelsea before Goodison Park hosts the Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool on Wednesday.
Champions Manchester City next take to the field against Brighton on Thursday.
