Pitso Mosimane scores a doctorate

Pitso Mosimane, celebrated for his contributions to football both as a player and a coach, is set to receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Johannesburg. 

The university announced it would celebrate Mosimane’s achievements with an honorary doctorate on 25 July. 

Mosimane’s journey in football has seen him progress from talented player to one of the most respected coaches in Africa. 

Currently leading Abha FC in the Saudi Pro League, he has a trophy cabinet with 19 titles from South Africa, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. 

His time as head coach for Bafana Bafana after the 2010 World Cup marked the beginning of a successful coaching career, highlighted by three CAF Champions League victories with Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly.

Beyond his club accomplishments, Mosimane earned the CAF Coach of the Year award in 2016 and has been a strong advocate for African football, calling for equal opportunities and recognition for African players. 

His commitment to developing young talent through the Pitso Mosimane Soccer Schools shows his dedication to the sport’s development.
