L’vovo Derango, real name Thokozani Ndlovu, thrilled his many fans when he performed for the first time this year in his hometown of Madadeni (Newcastle) on Saturday.
The event was an IFP activation aimed at filling up the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Sunday for the party’s manifesto launch.
Princess Phumzile Buthelezi, daughter of the late Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, told Scrolla.Africa that it was an honour to see the stroke survivor coming back to entertain his fans.
“When I saw him getting out of his car and onto the stage I asked one of our leaders about his weight loss,” she said.
“Thami Ntuli told me that L’vovo is in fact recovering from a severe stroke. I was so glad to see him in a good mood in spite of the painful nature of this disease.”
Thulani Mngoma from Osizweni said locals were very happy to see their homeboy on stage again.
L’vovo suffered a stroke in 2022 while performing at a festival in Ndwedwe, north of Durban and spent months recuperating at his parents’ home in Abber Park, Newcastle.
The KwaZulu-Natal kwaito legend is known for hits such as “Bayang’sukela”, “Resista”, “Palesa” and more.
