South African celebrity Anele Mdoda’s latest international trip turned into a saga of delays, cancellations and airport sleepovers — all courtesy of Kenya Airways.
Taking her frustration to X (formerly Twitter), Anele tweeted: “Kenyan Airways? Just throw the whole airline away.”
After her flight was cancelled, Anele said the airline responded that passengers had to sleep on the floor of the airport and were only served dinner at 10pm.
“Kenyan Airways is soup and I am a fork,” Anele tweeted.
Emerging from her unintended airport stay, the television presenter, radio personality, producer, businesswoman and author wrote: “I am back. I don’t smell good. I look even worse. I have a throbbing headache.”
Anele then hinted at a possible raid on her luggage during the 12-hour ordeal, tweeting, “Kenyan Airways you suck.”
In desperation and perhaps a dash of humour, Anele even called for a national intervention, saying: “Someone wake @PresidencyZA up. It’s a national crisis. I need to get extracted from Jomo Kenyatta fast!”
The airline responded to Anele’s tweet with its own, saying: “@Anele, Apologies for the delayed response to your query. Could you please send us a direct message with your booking reference and more detailed information so we can assist you further? Thank you.”
