An emotional Branden Grace has dedicated his title victory at the PGA Tour Puerto Rico Open to his late dad who succumbed to Covid-19 complications earlier this year.
The 32-year old South African golfer carded an eagle-birdie finish to claim a one-shot win to clinch the win on Sunday at the Grand Reserve Country Club.
Grace recorded the second PGA Tour event title and his first title since the 2016 RBC Heritage Tournament in Canada. His latest title victory was at the SA Open last year at Randpark Golf Club in Johannesburg.
Brandon tested positive for the virus in August last year while at the Barracuda Championship. In January this year he lost his father, Steve Grace.
Branden said losing his father made him look at life differently.
“My old man passed away not too long ago and I have not been the same since,” said Branden on SAFM Sport On with Thabiso Mosia.
“I played for my dad. I am grateful for what he did for me. He taught me to play aggressively. Every time I play, I do it for him,” said Branden.
The South African Golfer said now he wants to improve his ranking and to play better golf.
