Legendary gospel musician Solly Moholo has returned to the stage to rebuild his music career.
The musician is promoting his new single titled “Stop Killing the Police”, a plea to criminals to stop killing the men and women in blue.
This offering follows his six-year sabbatical from the industry after releasing “Palamente e kgopela merapelo”.
That song urged South Africans to pray for politicians in Parliament to do better in delivering services and to stop corruption.
The “Banaka Nako ea me e Haufi” musician said his songs are inspired by the different challenges the country is facing at the time he releases them.
Speaking to Scrolla.Africa, Moholo said the song didn’t do well due to poor marketing and promotion.
“Many of my fans didn’t know about the release of the song. At the time I was going through challenges in my life and I didn’t have the strength to put in the work to promote it.
“This is the only song that has failed since I started singing professionally but I am now correcting the mistake and pushing it,” he said.
“My latest single ‘Stop Killing the Police’ came about after I heard Police Minister Bheki Cele announcing the number of officers who were killed in the last six months.
“I grew worried that these men and women in blue are targeted while they are working to protect us as citizens of this country.”
Through the song, he uses his talent and influence to urge residents to work with the police to help fight crime and identify criminals in our communities.
“We know the criminals in our neighbourhoods, they are our children. The least we can do is help police remove them off our streets,” he said.
The musician is currently on tour promoting his new single which is set to be released at the end of January.
