Police almost done investigating AKA murder

According to Minister of Police Bheki Cele, the South African police are edging closer to resolving the double murder of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and chef Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.

The duo were gunned down outside a Durban restaurant on Florida Road in early February.

Cele, during a recent press conference in Pretoria, emphasised the progress being made in the investigation and urged the public to allow the police the necessary space to finalise their work.

“It might take some time,” Cele remarked.

Earlier in September, KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, announced that significant evidence had been uncovered.

This includes the discovery of the firearm used in the murders and the identification of some vehicles associated with the crime.

Positive identification of potential suspects is also underway in collaboration with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

“The cars have been found, people have been identified, even the firearm that was used has been found,” said Cele.

“So, they are chasing this person and are not very far from dealing the final blow to this case.”

Surveillance footage from the crime scene captured the moments leading up to the murders.

It showed AKA embracing Motsoane, after which a shooter approaches from the side of a parked car and opens fire on them.

The assailant, accompanied by another individual, is then seen fleeing the scene on foot.
