David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne led Australia to yet another win over the Proteas as they went 2-0 up in the ODI series following a rampant 123 run victory in Bloemfontein on Saturday.
After opting to chase, Temba Bavuma’s side struggled to make any early inroads — with the visitors 109/0 in the 12th over before the first wicket fell.
Eventual man of the match Labuschagne came in at number four for Australia to strike 124 off 99, with veteran Warner scoring 106 off 93 at the top and Travis Head managing 64 off 36 alongside him.
Tabraiz Shamsi took a four wicket haul, including the scalps of captain Mitchell Marsh for a duck and wicketkeeper Alex Carey for just six off ten balls.
The runs, though, kept on coming and the visitors finished on 392/8, the second highest ever score at Mangaung Stadium.
In response South Africa looked superb, with Quinton de Kock and Bavuma both getting into their 40s at the top of the order.
The middle batters would ultimately collapse,
though, with Aiden Markram and Rassie Van der Dussen failing to get going as the hosts managed just 269 all out in another forgettable encounter so far this summer.
On Tuesday the series hits Potchefstroom; and South Africa will know that it is do or die for them as they look to avoid another white wash — especially now with the ICC World Cup fast approaching.
