Yes, “Siya! Siya! Siya!” The nation is behind you and your Springbok team

If the Springboks had any doubts that all of South Africa was behind them as they carry our hopes to the World Cup, all those questions are now well and truly dispelled.

A large crowd gathered at Oliver Tambo Airport to catch a last glimpse of our warriors before they board the plane, carrying our deepest hopes for success at the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France.

Once again, the now familiar chants of “Siya! Siya! Siya!” rose up as the Springboks appeared on the podium, but that doesn’t mean that this team is a one trick pony.

You can bet your smelly old socks from when you played first reserve in the third team for Harlequins, that there is not one player in the squad who is not totally committed to putting their bodies on the line.

The Boks will play two warm-up matches before the tournament starts. They play Wales a week from today and New Zealand at Twickenham in two weeks time. Both matches are going to be crackers, but on 10 September the rubber hits the road. It may be the most important match of the tournament when the Boks play Scotland in the World Cup proper.

Go Bokke. The nation is ready to be “Stronger Together”.
