After being acquitted of attempted murder charges on this son, former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates and SuperSport star Kuda Mahachi has found it difficult to find a new club.
Mahachi was released by SuperSport United in June 2022 after allegations of child abuse emerged.
The winger was accused of scalding his then-four-year-old son with boiling water for alleged ritual purposes, leading to the minor having his foot amputated.
After being tried by a Bulawayo court in his home country Zimbabwe, Mahachi was acquitted in November 2022 for lack of evidence
He resurfaced at Maritzburg United where he tried his luck midway through last season but the club opted against signing him.
“I’m still looking for a team. I’m training on my own and playing some social soccer,” Mahachi told Scrolla.Africa.
“I’m searching for a club, that’s why I’m around and I have to see what’s going on. I was even thinking that I can go back home [to Zimbabwe] and maybe play there for six months. I’m itching to come back to football, it’s been long.”
Complicating the winger’s search for a new team is that he is not working with a player intermediary.
“No, I don’t have an agent. After that time I had some problems, I didn’t have an agent,” added Mahachi.
“But I’m hoping for something this coming window. It’s just that some agents come and they ask you to sign with them and then they keep quiet.
“So, I’m just training and hoping for the best. Maybe I can find someone who can help me with a deal because I feel I still have it in my legs for another three to four years.”
Mahachi turns 30 in September and has also played for Golden Arrows in the Premier Soccer League.
