Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye feels the Soweto giants should have appointed Pitso Mosimane as their head coach, replacing Arthur Zwane.
The ex-Bafana Bafana trainer joined Emirati side Al Wahda last week after parting ways with Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli.
Before ending up in the United Arab Emirates, speculation was rife that Mosimane was headed for the Al Ahli exit door.
Khanye feels Chiefs should have taken advantage of the coach’s uncertain future in Saudi Arabia and made a move before Al Wahda came calling.
“There are a lot of good coaches who could be at Kaizer Chiefs,” Khanye told Scrolla.Africa.
“For me, the perfect person was Pitso Mosimane. Firstly, he is very arrogant when it comes to his philosophy, secondly, he is not a person who says yes to everything.
“Thirdly, he has proven himself more than our national team coach Hugo Broos and fourth, he doesn’t do favours.”
The Soweto giants are currently under the charge of Zwane who has lost the support of his bosses at Naturena.
After overlooking Mosimane, Amakhosi are now talking to Nasreddine Nabi who recently stepped down from his role at Tanzanian heavyweights Young Africans.
But former Chiefs wideman Khanye insists Mosimane would have led a revolution at the Soweto giants and further explains why he believes so.
“He would have brought his assistants as well,” added Khanye.
“They were supposed to allow him, he should have restructured the technical team. I’m talking about proper scouts and restructuring the development structure.
“They should have appointed Farouk Khan as head of development as well. Farouk has produced many top players.
“So Chiefs needed someone like Pitso Mosimane, the guy who knows South African players, the identity and culture of our football. He has produced some of the best players and he is someone who will fight for Chiefs to get a star, fighting in the Champions League.
“You know Pitso has courage, he is ambitious and can produce players who will represent Bafana Bafana.”
Mosimane is now preparing to begin his new job in Abu Dhabi and Al Wahda will go to Serbia for a pre-season camp from 1 to 17 July.
