Kelly Khumalo has not confirmed rumours that she and her sister, Zandie, have signed a R22 million deal with Netflix… but she hasn’t denied them either.
“I have signed a business contract with a major streaming platform, and it’s none of anyone’s business what the deal is about,” Kelly told Scrolla.Africa.
Over the course of the week, murmurs grew that the Khumalo sisters had signed a massive deal with Netflix to collaborate on a tell-all docu-series on the night Kelly’s boyfriend Senzo Meyiwa was killed.
The sisters were among the seven people who were inside the house on the night when the Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper was shot dead in 2014.
Ever since that fateful night, rumours have swirled around that the two sisters know more about the murder than have let on.
While talking to Scrolla.Africa, Kelly Khumalo admitted to having signed a deal with the “famous streaming platform”.
Is it about Senzo Meyiwa’s death?
She wouldn’t say.
She told Scrolla.Africa to “believe” whatever it wants to believe.
“You can either take what your fellow media contact [Musa Khawula, who tweeted the rumour] says to be true or wait for the right time when an official announcement will be made.
Her sister, however, was more forthcoming. Zandie Khumalo-Gumede categorically denied signing a contract with Netflix or any other platforms about Senzo Meyiwa’s death.
“Once again, let me repeat: I have never and will never sign a contract with any broadcaster about something so sensitive. In fact, like you, I wish to know the real truth about Senzo’s death.”
Scrolla Africa’s attempts to get a comment from Netflix weren’t successful, as Mokgadi Seabi, Sub-Saharan Africa Netflix’s communications manager, did not answer any calls before publication.
