Reigning national boxing junior featherweight champion Bongani “Wonderboy” Mahlangu is growing increasingly frustrated as he waits to be handed his IBF All Africa belt.

Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP) are yet to hand over the belt he won after defeating Ayabonga Sonjica at the Orient Theatre in the Eastern Cape last July.

By producing a stunning sixth-round stoppage, Mahlangu also took home the South African title that was also on the line.

But up to this day the veteran boxer from Boipatong in Gauteng is yet to receive his IBF belt.

“These people at Rumble Africa are taking me for a ride. They have sent me from pillar to post each time I enquire about my belt.

“Sometimes they don’t even bother to reply to my Whatsapp messages. In fact they were actually supposed to hand it over to me immediately after the fight but they gave me a run around. I think they are frustrating me on purpose because I spoiled their big plans for their son Sonjica,” Mahlangu told Scrolla.Africa.

The 42-year-old champion sought intervention through Andre de Vries, who is the IBF representative in Africa, without luck.

Rumble Africa Promotions boss Teris Ntutu said he was not aware the belt had not been handed over. “I will investigate and get in touch with his camp.”

Mahlangu has previously held the WBA Pan African and Intercontinental bantamweight, SA, WBO International and IBF International junior featherweight titles.

As an amateur the Wonderboy represented South Africa in the 2004 Olympics in the lightweight division, and won a silver medal in the 2005 All-Africa Games in Abuja, Nigeria.
