Since getting sacked as a DJ on Ukhozi FM last year, Sbusiso Buthelezi has been on a downward spiral ending in him being forced to sell his house.

Buthelezi was dismissed in June by SABC owing to what the broadcaster called misconduct.

After several people sent formal complaints to the broadcaster alleging that they were being owed millions of rands by Buthelezi’s private Abombuso Investment Scheme, he was sacked.

The poultry scheme allowed investors to sell chickens and eggs, promising 100% returns after three months, but it went horribly wrong. He was hounded and hunted at the SABC Durban station by investors.

Scrolla.Africa has been told that due to pressure, Buthelezi has been forced to sell his posh house in Umhlanga, north of Durban in order to get money to pay off his debtors.

“Sbu has fallen on hard times and his so-called loyal fans on radio have distanced themselves from him. He’s been forced to sell his house in order to get money so that he keeps those he owes at bay,” said a source.

“These people have been on his case and want their money back. Some people who say he owes them more than R100 000 have even threatened to kill him. They trusted him because he portrayed an honest man on his popular religious show.”

Buthelezi used to present the gospel show Indumiso on Sundays on Ukhozi FM. It gained the Isizulu radio station millions of listeners.

But after his business dealings, the SABC accused him of bringing the organisation into disrepute and fired him.

Asked for comment, Buthelezi said, “You don’t get tired writing about me, hey. I am no longer a celebrity yet you keep following me. Who cares if I have sold my property?” and abruptly ended the call.
