Bulls rugby coach Jake White will be out of the game for at least four weeks after undergoing emergency surgery on Monday.
White went with the Bulls to Newport, Wales last week, but was forced to watch the Bulls playing the Dragons from his hotel room. It was said that he had a cold.
However, according to a Bulls press release, he suffered serious stomach pains and had to undergo an emergency operation.
After visiting White on Monday, Bulls CEO Edgar Rathbone said the operation was a success and that White will be back with the team early in February.
“We are extremely confident that Jake is receiving the best medical attention available and our team of medical experts will provide him with all the necessary support he will need to make a full recovery,” said Rathbone.
The coach will miss the Bulls’ match against Exeter Chiefs in a Champions Cup match on Saturday night in Pretoria as well as away matches against Lyon and the Scarlets in their remaining matches for January.
While Jake will officially recover totally after the two-hour stomach operation, the fact that nobody has officially said what was wrong with him does raise a red flag.
Among Jake White’s many achievements as a rugby coach is that he coached the Springboks to World Cup victory in 2007.
