The self-proclaimed Zulu king, Prince Simakade, has lambasted those who have told him to go and get a real job instead of fighting for the throne.
Prince Simakade Jackson kaZwelithini was recently crowned as the Zulu king by the royal rebels who oppose King Misuzulu kaZwelithini.
On a recorded video that started to circulate on Monday, Prince Simakade said that he had heard rumours that people think he only wanted to be king to avoid hard work.
He said the royal family didn’t put him on the throne because he wanted the lavish lifestyle of a king.
“I don’t care about that life because I’ve got my own things that I have worked hard for. The late king taught us to be independent,” he said.
“Why should I look for a job when I have my own things? I don’t want anything from anyone.”
On Saturday Prince Simakade performed the entering ritual of the sacred kraal at eNyokeni royal palace where the annual Reed Dance is held every year. He was declared as the new Zulu king.
The event comes before King Misuzulu kaZwelithini’s, which will take place at the KwaKhangelamankengana royal palace in Nongoma on Saturday.
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Nomsa Dube-Ncube has already announced the team from her office that will help King Misuzulu prepare the upcoming entrance to the kraal this Saturday.
Prince Simakade has been supported by the likes of the late Princess Thembi Ndlovu and Prince Mbonisi.
But the cracks in his faction began to show on Saturday when it was revealed that Prince Mbonisi of eKhwezi has switched loyalties and now supports a new candidate for the throne from the KwaDlamahlahla palace. The proposed king is one of the sons of Queen Buhle Mathe, the third wife of King Zwelithini.
Prince Mbonisi did not attend Prince Simakade’s sacred kraal ceremony.
Prince Mbonisi could not be reached for comment after his phone was answered by a man who said the prince was busy in a meeting.
