Lerato Molapo, better known by her stage name Lira, posted a video of herself on Instagram over the weekend practising with the Mzansi Youth Choir.

She also provided a health update on her recovery from the stroke she suffered in April.

Despite her ongoing speech difficulties, the singer/songwriter said she can still sing.

She said that she is already feeling better. She is seen singing in the video with the talented Mzansi Youth Choir, with a caption, “speech challenging but I can still sing”.

The news of her stroke four months ago sent shockwaves through the country.

In a statement posted on her social media platform, Lira stated that she’d had a stroke while performing in Germany but had returned to South Africa to heal.

Three months into her recovery, the former Voice SA coach revealed she had relearned how to speak, read, and write. She also sincerely expressed gratitude to her supporters.

The songbird wrote, “I can talk now, although I need a little patience. I can read and I can write.

“So much love for me makes me emotional. I am doing so well! with much love. Your prayers have been massively appreciated.

“I’ve made such awesome progress, I’m proud of myself and I give thanks to God.”
