Crowned “amapiano king,” DJ Kabza De Small was displayed on New York City’s famous Times Square Spotify billboard.
Kabza De Small follows in the footsteps of Mzansi artists like Black Coffee and Sho Madjozi who were both on Apple Music’s Times Square billboard last year on separate occasions.
Kabza appeared on the billboard after he released an album called KOA II (King of Amapiano) Album Part 1 on 16 June.
“KOA ll Billboard in Times Square, New York. MAKHOSI AMAKHULU,” said Kabza De Small, thanking his ancestors on Instagram on Sunday.
Being on the American billboards is slowly becoming a norm for many Mzansi artists. In March, music artist and Royal AM chairman Andile Mpisane appeared on a Times Square billboard marketing a rap legends music tour, which featured big names like Rick Ross and Jeezy.
Meanwhile, Kabza De Small, who has been hot since last year, released a four-track all hits EP in April with artists like Nkosazana Daughter and Young Stunna, who have been working closely with the talent producer and DJ from Alexandra in Gauteng. He has also occasionally been called Scorpion King after releasing a duet with DJ Maphorisa.
