Actress Mapaseka Koetle-Nyokong and former Miss SA Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala are embarking on a countrywide journey to fight against unhygienic public toilets for women.
With the toilet cleaning brand Harpic, the two celebrities are actively using their influence to advocate for “social change” to combat poor sanitation and unsafe public toilets for women.
“Yooh, these are the problems we have to face as women all the time when we have to use the public toilets,” said Koetle-Nyokong, placing a tissue around the toilet seat, in a video clip shared on her Instagram page.
“Many South African women dread using public toilets. They can be unhygienic, unsafe, and unsuitable for women’s needs,” said the actress, who plays Dintle in Scandal and a long distance bus attendee in the thrilling SA movie, Losing Lerato.
Montjane-Tshabalala was crowned Miss SA in 2010 and is married to famous soccer player Simphiwe Tshabalala.
Together the two women are making a difference through the Harpic Hygiene For Her initiative.
“Yesterday together with Harpic, we did a handover of five restored toilet facilities in Klipfontein!” said Montjane-Tshabalala, who was also crowned Miss World Africa at the 2011 Miss World pageant. She shared a picture of her and Simphiwe Tshabalala in Klipfontein, Johannesburg, where the handover took place.
