Afro-Pop and R&B star Lira has relieved her worried fans by announcing that she is recovering well after suffering a stroke while in Germany for a performance last month.
“Thank you for your overwhelming love, support and prayers. I am recovering well. Physically I have been unaffected, I am strong and healthy,” announced the beloved singer, whose real name is Lerato Molapo.
On 19 April, Lira’s family announced that she had fallen ill and had been flown to South Africa to recover.
“Her ability to communicate, in particular, her speech, has been impacted. She is currently undergoing treatment here in South Africa, led by the best medical team available,” her family had said in a statement posted to her Facebook account.
Thankfully only a month later, on Friday, 20 May, Lira said she is making a lot of progress and cannot wait to be back on stage performing.
“The stroke has unfortunately affected my speech. However I am making lots of progress every day. I will be taking some time to focus on my recovery.”
“Please keep your prayers coming. I can’t wait to be back soon,” wrote Lira, who signed off with her initial “L”.
