While family and friends are preparing for a dignified send off for the late Hip Hop artist Riky Rick, who passed away on Wednesday after an alleged suicide, the “Ukotini” hit maker’s name lives on through his music.

In a statement on SlikourOnLife music site, the family said the funeral of artist Rikhado Muziwendlovu Chifaro Makhado, known as Riky Rick, will take place at a private ceremony in Johannesburg on Tuesday.

“The family have planned an intimate gathering for his send-off,” continued the statement, adding that the service will be live-streamed.

Thanking the public for their continued support since the loss of the artist, the family said: “Close friends, family and selected media will gather for a special tribute celebration on Friday, a few days after the funeral”.

SlikourOnLife is a music site founded by Skwatta Kamp’s Siyabonga “Slikour” Metane, who had a close working relationship with Riky Rick since he began his music career.

Meanwhile, the final song released by Riky Rick, “Sondela”, is sitting at number one on iTunes SA Music charts following its release on 14 February.

A Tribute to Riky Rick ( Lala Ngoxolo ) by Inkabi Records’ Big Zulu, Mduduzi Ncube and Siya Ntuli is meanwhile number one on YouTube’s Trending Music Charts with over 700,000 views after its release on 24 February.

The tribute was released a few hours after the news of Riky Rick’s death surfaced.
