The countdown has begun as K.O, the rapper from Piet Retief, Mpumalanga, sets the release date for his second music video of the year, titled “Playback”.
“Playback” is scheduled to be released on Wednesday on music streaming platforms and music channels, over two weeks after the record was released.
Following the success of the music video for his single “K.HOVA”, released in May 2021, anticipation for his latest music video is sky-high among hip-hop fans.
His brand of new school-type rapping, in which he delivers his famed witty rhymes in township tsotsitaal to a beat that has a heavy Kwaito influence, has proved popular among fans of the genre.
“Playback” is no different. It is a show of lyrical force, using smooth flows to deliver his bars seamlessly, similarly to his previous hardcore rap songs, “No Fear” and “MS2”.
K.O shot to fame over a decade as a member of the group Teargas, which also consisted of brothers Ma-E and Ntukza who, like K.O, sang in their native languages.
His song “Cara Cara” reached anthem status seven years ago, after winning the South African Music Award Record of the Year in 2014.
