Up and coming Amapiano artist Kvng Vinci has capitalised on the huge success of the hit South Korean series, Squid Game. The creative producer has released a song inspired by the series titled “Squid Game (Amapiano Remix)”.
Central to Kvng Vinci’s song is the now-recognisable chant of a girl in the show saying, “Red light, green light, one, two, three!” in Korean. In the series, the nursery-rhyme-style chant is repeated while characters are being killed playing a deadly version of the Korean playground game, red light, green light.
He took what instilled fear in both the viewer and characters taking part in the deadly childhood game, and turned it into a subversive dance song which combines deep house and Amapiano.
Released on 17 September on Netflix, Squid Game is fast becoming the platform’s biggest ever success story.
Meanwhile, the 1:47 minute-long version of the song from Kvng Vinci is currently the number 21 trending music on YouTube, with over 73,000 views.
