Ambitiouz Entertainment’s current pride and joy, Blaq Diamond, continues to release singles that are destined to become anthems.
The afro-pop duo’s recent single “AmaCriminal Records”, which was released last month, has followed suit.
Ever since Blaq Diamond, which is composed of singers Ndumiso “Ndu Brown” Mdletshe and Sphelele “Danya Devs” Dunywa, released their first album Inqola, they have found it hard to stay off the air waves and music award stages.
Inqola was the duo from Ladysmith’s first number one on iTunes in 2017.
Like they always do with diamonds in the rough, Ambitiouz Entertainment has turned Blaq Diamond into one of the best music-selling acts in the country.
Their maskandi sounding vocals on modern pop instruments makes them stand out against any act.
In 2019, the duo released what would become the SAMA Awards Record of the Year, a single titled “Ibhanoyi”, which shot to number one on iTunes. It was later included in their second studio album, Umuthi, which was released the following year.
Other hits like “Love Letter” also featured on the tracklist. The two songs have gone head-to-head against respected amapiano hits and came out victorious, and they have now been certified triple platinum by RiSA.
Umuthi shares its name with their new record label, which has since signed artists like Mlungisi Mncwango and Sbahle of the hit song “Emlanjeni”.
Historically, many artists have had management problems under Ambitiouz Entertainment, to the point where they have left the label empty-handed and become sworn enemies with its owner, Kgosi Mahumapelo.
Blaq Diamond’s relationship with the label, however, has been nothing but positive. In 2020, they partnered with Ambitiouz Entertainment to create Umuthi Records.
Meanwhile the music video for their latest single “AmaCriminal Records”, which was released last Friday, has over 260,000 views on Youtube in just four days.
