Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov took his secret billionaire mistress on over 60 “diplomatic missions,” according to an explosive new report.
Actress and restaurateur Svetlana Polyakova accompanied the 71-year-old minister to at least 24 different countries, including France, Italy, Switzerland and Japan.
Since 2014, the two have reportedly indulged in a lavish lifestyle, using the foreign ministry’s plane to travel to an array of luxurious locations, including a superyacht owned by an oligarch.
The shady affair was revealed in an explosive report entitled “Yachts, bribes and a mistress. What Minister Lavrov is hiding.” It was published last Thursday by the team of imprisoned Russian opposition leader, Alexai Navalny.
Polyakova has held a position in Russia’s Foreign Ministry since 2014, despite having no apparent qualifications which would suit her to the role.
The report said Polyakova is part of President Vladimir Putin’s core entourage and has risen to such a powerful position in the ministry that she is able to force others out of the department.
The report also revealed the actress’s mind-boggling wealth, owning over R200 billion worth of properties in the UK and Russia. She also owns R8 million worth of luxury cars.
Navalny’s report was a follow up by another investigation published last week by iStories, which alleged that Polyakova and Lavrov were so close that many in the ministry assumed they were a married couple.
The report even stated that some of her friends saved Polyakova’s number as “Svetlana Lavrova”.
They couple would even occasionally be accompanied on their “diplomatic missions” by Polyakova’s mother, daughter, and even her niece.
The trips, which were attended by the daughter, were well documented, as she regularly posted footage of the escapades on her Instagram page. The account was made private after Navalny’s report was published.
