Manchester United slumped to a 4-1 Uefa Champions League humiliation at Como on Wednesday as pressure mounted on manager Michael Carrick.

Nico Paz scored twice for the debutants, with Tasos Douvikas and Jacobo Ramon also on target, while only a stoppage-time Joshua Zirkzee consolation saved United from a joint-heaviest European defeat.

United, winless in seven games in all competitions, remain on three points in the league phase and have kept one clean sheet in 11 games this season.

They sit with their worst league start in 40 years after three draws and three defeats.

Como, who have risen from Serie B to Europe’s elite under Cesc Fabregas in three years, claimed their second win to move to six points in what will go down as one of their greatest ever results.

Elsewhere, an eventful night in the Bavarian rain saw Bayern Munich and Arsenal play out a 2-2 draw.

Eberechi Eze and Declan Rice scored for the visitors while Harry Kane was inspirational with a goal and assist for the hosts.

Real Madrid beat Leipzig 4-1 while Aston Villa were 3-1 victors at home to Viking.

On Tuesday, PSG beat Barcelona 4-2 in Paris while Liverpool came back from behind to beat Villareal 4-2 at Anfield and Manchester City overcame AEK Athens 5-1.
