When tickets for the Scorpion Kings’ FNB Stadium concert went on sale on 5 May, more than 500,000 fans flooded online queues hoping to secure a seat. Within a week, 70,000 tickets were gone. The full line-up has not even been announced yet.
The concert, titled Scorpion Kings Live: A Family Affair, takes place on 19 September 2026 at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. FNB Stadium holds roughly 94,000 people. The show is already three quarters full.
The Scorpion Kings duo, DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small, have built one of the most devoted followings in South African music. Last year’s Scorpion Kings Live event at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria drew massive crowds. This year they are going bigger.
DJ Maphorisa thanked fans for their patience during the intense ticket rush.
“The love has been on another level,” he said.
Kabza De Small said the concert celebrates the culture and the supporters who helped build Amapiano from the ground up. This year’s Family Affair theme brings together artists, collaborators and fans for what is shaping up to be one of the biggest live music events South Africa has seen.
Previous Scorpion Kings concerts have featured artists including Sha Sha, Focalistic and DJ Zinhle. No line-up has been confirmed for this year’s show, but speculation is already running hot online.
More ticket releases and artist announcements are expected in the coming weeks. If you missed the first wave, it may be worth watching closely.
