India wrapped up a 2-1 ODI series victory over South Africa with a convincing 9-wicket win in the third game in Visakhapatnam on Saturday.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s maiden ODI century (116 not out off 121 balls) laid the foundation for India’s chase, with Rohit Sharma (75) and Virat Kohli (65*) adding impressive half-centuries.

Quinton de Kock’s brilliant 106 off 89 after being put into bat by India helped the Proteas post 270, but the innings unravelled after that solid start.

South Africa went on to lose eight wickets for 102. Kuldeep Yadav (4-41) and Prasidh Krishna (4-66) were instrumental in India’s bowling triumph, exploiting the wet conditions to perfection.

Kohli’s unbeaten 65, with six fours and three sixes, sealed the win with 10.1 overs to spare, with the all-time great also picking up the man of the series award.

India’s dominant performance marked a successful series for the side, something that was much needed for them after being put away 2-0 in the preceding test series against South Africa.

The victory sets the stage for a five-match T20 series between the two teams, starting on Tuesday in Cuttack.
