- Nasreddine Nabi is among top names being considered by Yanga after the Tanzanian club parted ways with coach Romain Folz.
- Nabi led Yanga to league titles, cup trophies and a CAF final before joining Kaizer Chiefs earlier this year.
Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi could soon be heading back to Tanzania to take charge of Young Africans, the club where he became a household name.
Yanga are searching for a new coach after sacking Frenchman Romain Folz following a poor run of form. Reports suggest Nabi is among the top candidates to replace him.
A source close to the club told journalists: “Yanga have discussed other names, and Nabi is definitely one of them. It wouldn’t shock me if he’s re-appointed.”
The Tunisian coach made history with Yanga during his first spell, winning back-to-back league titles, two domestic cups and taking the team all the way to the CAF Confederation Cup final.
He later moved to South Africa to join Kaizer Chiefs, where he reached the Nedbank Cup final but was released after mixed results.
Nabi had reportedly planned to take a break from coaching after his stint at Chiefs, but the pull of Yanga, one of Africa’s biggest clubs, may be too strong to resist.
Clubs from North Africa are also said to be interested in signing him, but Yanga remain the favourites to bring him back to Dar es Salaam, where fans still sing his name, The Citizen reported.
