The bear was protecting her cubs from the barking dogs – but 17-year-old Hailey Morinico was protecting her dogs from the bear.
The Tik Tok clip shows the bear coming along the top of the wall with her cubs behind her.
When the barking dogs appear, the bear, protecting its cubs, swings at the dogs. Hailey then comes rushing into the frame and pushes the huge bear off the wall.
The clip gained over 50,000 likes in just eight hours as people lauded the teenager’s bravery.
Hailey said the dogs barking alerted her that something might be wrong
“When I went over there to see what they’re barking at I’m like, okay that’s a funny looking dog,” she said.
However, it was no dog as the full grown bear attempted to get into the property, causing Hailey to rush over and push the bear just hard enough so it lost its balance and tumbled off the wall.
Hailey managed to get away with only a sprained finger and a scraped knee, slight injuries given that she had just had an encounter with a bear – and a small price to pay to save her dogs.
Several viewers commented that the bear meant no harm and that she too was protecting her cubs, just as the teenager was trying to save her dogs.
